After a career in the media, making science documentaries, Alex now leads the Winton Centre for Risk & Evidence Communication at the University of Cambridge, a group that researches and disseminates best practice in communication of quantified evidence. In her spare time, she is planning a radical shake-up of the scientific publishing system with the launch of Octopus, a new primary research record for science, due in spring 2022. During the past 18 months, the Winton Centre has been very busy studying risk perception and communication during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as giving free advice to communicators around the world.
